Welcome to Homeschool Journeys

Welcome to my new website: Homeschool Journeys. I am Beverly Hernandez, a retired homeschooler of three. I have been very active in the homeschooling community over the past 28 years, running a homeschool bookstore, a large homeschool support group, and writing for About.com for 13 years.

As a veteran homeschooler, I offer my expertise, insights and resources to the homeschooling community. I love designing unit studies, homeschool forms, printable worksheets and other resources. If you have specific needs, let me know and I’ll see if I can help.

I continue to be involved in the homeschool world as I mentor my grown children in their homeschooling, assisting in many ways in the education of my eleven grandchildren. I attend many of the local homeschool activities and field trips and will freely share with you. I look forward to sharing my homeschool journey with you and also offer myself as a “guide” on your homeschool journeys.

I was just wondering what you would recommend for the child that is more intrigued and motivated by learning on computer. His strongest subject is history and loves to discuss events. We currently do not use one single program but would love some solid recommendations.

  2. Hi Bev, I just wanted to wish you luck in this adventure. Denise Witmer

I followed you for many years on homeschool.com. I, like yourself,
have helped families with their homeschool struggles and am now retired as a homeschool mom but am tutoring students that are having difficulties in the public school system. I’ve used your website quite frequently for resources and am looking forward to your new one.

    Beverly,
I followed the About.com homeschooling from its inception and had emailed you personally several times over the years. You’ve been dedicated but I think a little limited in just what you could do with them; personally I’m extremely happy to hear that now your abilities will better help homeschooling parents with this new venture.
Officially I’m through with my homeschool “career” since my youngest grandson just graduated and is off to the marines. That has been my passion while still teaching over 55 years in traditional schools. I’ve written interest-based curriculum and worked as a homeschool consultant (volunteer) all throughout my teaching life. A teacher never quits!
Good luck and God bless you,
    Joanne

  9. Congratulations on your new venture! I think it’s wonderful when veteran homeschool moms stick around to help those further back on the homeschooling road. Good luck to you 🙂
